Just when Francisco Liriano looked like he was on the fast track to regaining his dominance in 2008, he turned a very unimpressive start against the Indianapolis Indians on Friday. It’s great to see that he is still boasting a great strikeout-to-walk ratio (7 Ks: 1 BB on Friday), but it appears that he was very hittable, serving up two home runs while allowing five earned runs to the Pirates’ Triple-A club.
There is still no dire need in the Twins rotation. Barring an injury or a rough spell from either Nick Blackburn, Kevin Slowley or Glen Perkins, the Minnesota front office will let Liriano string together a few more quality starts before re-joining the Twins rotation for a possible pennant run.
Here is the full boxscore from Friday’s game.
